Santorini – Just before the season started

Santorini in May 2019 – a present from our children to celebrate my wife’s birthday – I came along too just to make sure there were no problems with the language. Anyway, the idea that there is an off season on Santorini is probably a bit misleading – it’s a very popular Greek island full of history and the historic and imminent danger of volcanic destruction.

The island is probably most famous for the beautiful village of Oia – see below – and the amazing achealogical remains at Akrotiri. Of course the weather is always brilliant, whenever it’s not raining pumice.

The East Side Gallery – Berlin

Whilst digging through my hard drive today I came across some images of the Berlin wall I took last year during a visit with my daughter. There are some lovely colourful images in this set – here is a sample.

Autumn In Worthing on Kodak high speed colour film

The autumn season brings some dramatic light, nice shadows, golden hour colours – and a huge tanker topping up the sea with pure sussex water, a giant dog and a trip to London.

Worthing Pride Fringe 2018

Here are some photos I took on the day of Worthing Pride – we didn’t get into the Pride gig but there were definitely colourful things going on in town. Even the car park looked excited.

Quote of the day:
“Is this the queue for pride?”

“No – it’s just a queue”

These photos hand processed from Kodak ColorPlus 200 – very cheerful.

Here’s a sample…

It was only later I realised his head spelt Worthing. I was distracted by his flag.

Spring in Berlin

In May 2018 my daughter Kitty and I made a trip to Berlin.  This was to fulfil a very old ambition of mine to visit the Neues Museum and see the ancient and most beautiful bust of Queen Nefertiti – a 5,000 year old marvel.

Here are the pictures I took during our trip

The Brandenberg Gate and Unter den Linden

Taken with a Canon EOS 5 – that came with this awsome zoom lens

Black & White Trichromes Worthing Life

Trichromic Photography

These photos were taken using the trichrome technique: each is made up of three black & white images shot through a primary colour filter. Red, Green and Blue.  Then combined to make a colour image.  These are my first attempts – I love the colour fringes when the camera moves between shots, or the ghostly images of people and cars that move between colour changes.

My first colour slides

Here are some shots of the Worthing bus festival in 2016. It’s always a very colourful event, and once again the weather in Worthing was brilliant. These images were shot of Agfa Precisa 100. I think processed them in the kitchen sink using. Apparently colour processing is very sensitive to the temparature of the chemicals. I tried my best with these – and I guess you could call it beginner’s luck – because the they came out with nice punchy colours.
